In addition to hosting Wilmington's Earth Day Festival, Hugh MacRae Park may be open and available for other, non-related events. Due to the size and nature of the event, some of the Park's interior roads will be closed and not accessible, adding to the already limited parking situation.
FREE Shuttle Service...USE IT!
To accommodate the typical 5000+ festival attendees, the Earth Day Alliance has arranged FREE shuttle service (sponsored by Wave Transit) to and from the park. Park your vehicle in the New Hanover County Government center parking lot at 230 Government Center Drive (park on the west or bowling alley side, near Monk Real Estate School), and take the Wave Trolley from there to the park for FREE!!.
Please look for signage to identify the parking location and shuttle pick up. The WAVE shuttle will be running from this spot to the park from 11:30am-6:30pm and run approximately every 30 minutes.
We will also have a shuttle running from DREAMS of Wilmington following the same schedule.
If you're not familiar with the area, please refer to this map of Hugh MacRae Park and the surrounding area:
Ride your Bike to the Celebration!
Because of the limited parking, this is a perfect opportunity to remind yourself of Wilmington Earth Day's 2009 theme: "How do you get around". Consider riding a bike when planning your transportation to the Festival. If you are one of the growing number of North Caroliners who are looking for a great excuse to ride your bike...here it is.
Watch for our upcoming map of bike paths leading to Hugh MacRae Park. As soon as it's complete — we'll be adding it to this page.
