Wilmington Earth Day 2012! Cooperate, Connect, ProtectThis was a spectacular springtime activity and included FREE live music! The festivities were held at Hugh McRae Park in Wilmington, NC.

The Earth Day Alliance, founders and organizers for the Wilimington Earth Day annual celebration, were thrilled to announce the 2012 theme: "Cooperate - Connect - Protect". If we all agree to cooperate and connect to each other, then we can better protect the world we live in. Wilmington Earth Day wants to promote this concept of cooperation within our local community. Hence, you will see some familiar images in the 2012 logo; Venus Flytrap anyone?!

Possum Creek

2:00pm — 4:00pm
Possum Creek
has been a mainstay in the Wilmington music scene for well over five years now. They have established themselves as the premier regional bluegrass band. Fans of all ages are captivated by the traditional sounds of the banjo, mandolin, guitar, fiddle and upright bass. Primarily performing as a three piece, the multi-instrumentalists in Possum Creek keep the show exciting by switching instruments. This allows the band to showcase the special sounds of each instrument.

The hard driving ring of the banjo, the trill and chop of the mandolin and the high singing voice of the fiddle delight the audience time and again. Picking and singing the bluegrass favorites as well as some outlaw country and original compositions, Possum Creek's show gets folks up and dancing.  Whether rocking out the late night bars, picking away at a BBQ or oyster roast, or playing pretty for a wedding, the Possum Creek Bluegrass Band delivers traditional mountain music with a unique coastal flair.

JAH Creation

JAH Creation Reggae Band, based out of The Carolina Coast, brings an irie vibe with some of the best roots reggae music around. A full time tour de force, JAH Creation runs the circuit between the Florida Keys and the Jersey Shore, averaging between 10-20 shows per month. They have opened for some of the biggest reggae acts in the world, including Culture, Israel Vibration, Yellowman, Steel Pulse, Third World, Burning Spear, Midnite, The Itals, Eek-A-Mouse, and The Wailers. Whatever the situation, the band’s mission is to bring the people positive music, irie vibes, and to spread the message of Love, Respect, and Unity.
